Who needs a copywriter? If you have a business and you need customers, you need a copywriter. Companies who want to build their brand and sell their products or services need copywriters. Whether it is an online or offline business, a copywriter is an essential addition to grow an organization.

Before we get any further, let us differentiate a content writer from a copywriter. There has been an explosion of content writers that define copywriting as content writing. Boooo!

Content writers write to provide valuable information. Copywriters are trained to influence the reader to take action using a secret forbidden ancient art, which I won’t reveal. Moving on…

Businesses Needing Copy

  • Plumbers
  • Mechanics
  • Electricians
  • X Installers
  • Chiropractors
  • Doctors
  • Dentists
  • Caterers
  • Restaurants
  • Fitness Trainers
  • Agencies
  • Gyms
  • Activity centers
  • Retail shops
  • Etc. Etc.… There are just too many!

These businesses will need a copywriter for marketing and sales purposes. The copywriter creates a compelling advertisement that will bring awareness to the public and get leads for their services. Video sales letters (VSL) may also be in the cards if they wanted to advertise on a video platform like YouTube, Facebook, or even national television.

Entrepreneurs Need Copywriters Too!

Entrepreneurs also include YouTubers, Facebook creators, vloggers, bloggers, drop shippers, eBay sellers, Amazon sellers, affiliates, and selling ads. I am pretty sure I missed some, please chime in.

Let’s start with vloggers/video creators

Youtubers, as well as Facebook creators, are all about making video content for their fans. They are good at communicating and providing value but sometimes fail in the selling department.

If you are one of these video creators and are not selling, why the hell not? Are you scared your fans will label you as a sellout? Or that they will leave you?

So you rely on an advertising revenue model which is a poor way to make money. I think the current trend is $1 per 1000 views, give or take, you should know more. This may also differ in different niches as some charges more per click. To make one thousand dollars, you will need to achieve one million views. YIKES!

As you can see, an ad revenue model is not enough to get you off the poverty line. So you need to start looking at it from a business man’s perspective if you want more cash in your pocket, which I am sure you do.

Some copywriters are good at marketing (did I mention I am also a digital marketer?), so it is a bonus if you can grab one that has this down pat. Although I specialize in email marketing, I have an extensive background in digital marketing.

What a copywriter/marketer can do for your business or brand is enormous. As well as amplifying your sales, your brand will also expand and grow.

eBay, Amazon, Online Stores

Been selling on eBay for almost a decade now and still selling. Just the other day, I sold another iPhone case, just sent out today. While my competitors are practically cutting their profit margins close to nothing to make a sale. I am enjoying a good profit with a fifty percent markup.

Utilizing my copywriting to write compelling product description goes a long way to avoid price competition. I still have to be competitive but not in a way that I will lose profit. If you are competing on price alone, your business won’t last long.

If there is anything that you can take away from reading this blog, then this is it. Business is a game of margins, my friends.

Online Store

In addition to my eBay store, I opened online stores drop-shipping from Aliexpress. Not my greatest triumph, but I learned a lot about marketing.

Running your online store is different using the marketplace platform. The most significant difference and costly overhead is the marketing aspect. I spent thousands of dollars on marketing my online store. This is where I hit a brick wall.

I read marketing books, paid hundreds of dollars for Facebook advertising courses, and implemented it in my business.

A limited and small budget had me closing the doors. Little did I know, business requires a significant amount of money to be successful. DOH!

Although I did lose a significant amount of money, my acquired knowledge of marketing is a skill no one can take away. And I can use this to help other businesses grow and not go through the same mistakes I did.

What a copywriter can do for your online store is better, engaging, persuasive product descriptions, which will convert more browsers to buyers. An SEO specialist can also rank your listings higher.

Affiliates

The affiliate model is one of the easiest and cheapest ways of making money online. What people typically do is they create a website, go to Clickbank, CJ affiliates, promote a product, and they get a cut for every sale. There is no need to buy products and hold inventory.

There are other affiliate marketplaces and some you can source on your own. Finding a high ticket affiliate will likely earn you more in terms of commission.

I earn affiliate commissions whenever you decide to help me out by clicking on my links and take up the affiliate’s offer. It’s not much, but every little bit counts, and it helps to maintain this website.

Affiliates need a copywriter when they require sales pages. Maybe they want to start an email campaign to their lists.

In any case, affiliates can earn significant money for years to come with just one sales letter or an email campaign.

Serial Entrepreneurs

Okay, I believe you deserve a different category, for you are the most requiring a copywriter. You are a serial entrepreneur who has made it. Earning millions of dollars each year. Maybe even millions a month.

You have many companies, and your time is minimal. You need copywriters more than you think if you don’t already have one.

As you move on from one idea to the next, you hire a capable team to help manage your company. Having a dedicated rainmaker (a good copywriter) will establish your brand and organization a lot quicker.

To Conclude…

From plumbers to serial entrepreneurs, if customers are the lifeblood of your business, you need copywriters. Each entrepreneur and activities vary in stages of their journey. A fresh new business may need a little more marketing. Maybe you have a company that doesn’t have an online presence. A copywriter with marketing know-how can hold your hand and take you where you want to go.

Self-made entrepreneurs, established, growing businesses benefit most from copywriters. By now, you realized your time is precious. Micromanaging is unproductive. You are the heart and brain of the company. Instead of writing for days, and micromanaging, outsource a copywriter.
